    Alitheia Capital et Goodwell Investments se désengagent de Baobab Nigeria

    Alitheia Capital et Goodwell Investments ont signé leur désinvestissement dans l’institution de microfinance nigériane, Baobab. Cette sortie marque le premier désinvestissement du Fonds uMunthu, un véhicule d’investissement stratégique axé sur le financement d’entreprises à fort impact en Afrique.

    Selon les deux sociétés de capital-investissement, l’opération représente une étape importante qui leur permet de poursuivre leur engagement envers l’investissement à impact en Afrique.

    Alitheia et Goodwell ont été les premiers investisseurs privés de Baobab Nigeria en 2012, aidant l’institution à passer d’une banque régionale à une institution nationale de microfinance., selon un communiqué de Baobab de ce jeudi 20 mars.

    Selon la société, son expansion a été alimentée par des investissements dans trois domaines clés : la gouvernance, la structuration financière et l’expertise du marché local.

    Alitheia Capital, basée à Lagos et gérant plus de 250 millions de dollars d’actifs, se concentre sur des investissements à impact, visant à soutenir des entreprises à fort potentiel générant à la fois des rendements financiers et des solutions aux défis sociaux.

    Avec cette sortie, Baobab Nigeria est désormais entièrement détenue par sa société mère, le groupe international Baobab. L’équipe nigériane prévoit de continuer à étendre ses services financiers à travers le pays, renforçant ainsi son engagement à servir les communautés mal desservies.

    uMunthu II a réalisé son premier closing à 57 millions d’euros (61,5 millions USD) en mai 2023, après avoir levé 50 millions d’euros lors de son lancement en novembre 2022.
