April Mutual Fund Data: Net equity inflows fall for the fourth straight month to the lowest in a year

    May 10, 2025

Net inflows into India’s equity mutual funds moderated in April 2025, declining by 3.2% month-on-month to ₹24,253 crore from ₹25,017 crore in March, as per the latest data from the Association of Mutual Funds in India (AMFI).

This inflow, worth nearly $3 billion, is the lowest since April last year, and has declined for four months in a row.

Despite the dip in equity inflows, the mutual fund industry’s total assets under management (AUM) touched a new record high of ₹70 lakh crore in April, up from ₹65.74 lakh crore in March.

    Equity and Hybrid Trends

Inflows in to largecap funds increased after two straight months of decline to ₹2,671.46 crore, compared to ₹2,479.31 crore in March.

Mid-cap fund inflows stood at ₹3,313 crore, marginally lower from the inflows worth ₹3,438.87 crore crore in March. Small-cap funds also sustained their momentum with inflows worth ₹3,999.95 crore, compared to ₹4,092 crore in March.
Dividend yield funds attracted ₹51.17 crore in April, compared to ₹140.5 crore in March.

Liquid Funds saw sharp inflows during the month of April, at ₹1.18 lakh crore, compared to a significant outflow of ₹1.33 lakh crore that was seen in March.

    Liquid and Passive Categories

Sectoral and thematic funds posted net inflows of ₹2,000 crore, following a sharp decline to ₹170 crore in March.

Exchange-Traded Funds (ETFs) continued gaining ground, with net inflows of ₹19,056.7 crore in April, up from ₹10,962 crore a month earlier.

Gold ETFs saw outflows worth ₹5.82 crore, after posting a ₹77 crore outflow in March.

In the debt segment, corporate bond funds recorded net inflows worth ₹3,458 crore, versus a ₹414 crore outflow in March. Credit risk funds reported an outflow of ₹301.7 crore, slightly higher than the ₹294 crore outflow in the previous month.
