    Inflows into equity mutual funds surged 17% to ₹40,608 crore, SIPs hit ₹21,262 crore in June: AMFI data

    Inflows into equity mutual funds rose to ₹40,608 crore as against ₹34,697 crore in May, reporting an increase of 17 percent, the Association of Mutual Funds in India (AMFI) data revealed. Consequently, total assets under management (AUMs) of equity mutual funds hit around ₹27.68 lakh crore as on June 30, 2024. The corresponding data at May 31 stood at ₹25.39 lakh crore.

    Contribution via systematic investment plans (SIPs) touched ₹21,262 crore as compard to ₹20,904 crore in May, the data released by the AMFI showed.

    Number of new SIPs registered during June stood at 55,12,962. Closing balance of number of SIP accounts stood at 8,98,66,962. Mutual Fund Industry’s net AUM stood at ₹61,15,581.92 crores for the month of June 2024 while the corresponding figure for the month of May 2024 was ₹ 58,91,160.48 crores.

    It is noteworthy that equity inflows in the month of April stood at ₹18,917 crore. In terms of debt mutual funds, total outflow stood at ₹1,07,357 crore vis-à-vis an inflow of ₹42,295 crore in May.

    Categories of equity mutual funds

    Inflows into large cap mutual funds touched ₹970 crore as compared to ₹663 crore in May. At the same time, inflows into mid cap funds hit ₹2,527 crore as compared to ₹2,605 crore. Also, inflows into small cap funds touched ₹2,263 crore vis-à-vis 2,724 crore in the preceding month.

    Highest inflow among equity schemes of ₹22,351 crore was seen in sectoral funds. This was followed by multi cap funds which saw an inflow of ₹4,708 crore. Flexi cap schemes witnessed an inflow of ₹3,058 crore.

    A total of 17 schemes were launched in the month of June raising a total of ₹ 15,227 crores.

    Key statistics for June 2024

    I. Mutual fund folios reached an all-time high at 19,10,47,118 in June 2024

    II. Retail MF Folios (which include equity, hybrid, solution-oriented schemes) also hit an all-time high at 15,32,56,488 for the month of June 2024 as compared to 14,89,54,824 for the month of May 2024.

    III. There was 40 months of positive equity inflows, beginning March 2021. Growth Equity fund inflows for June is ₹ 40,608.19 crores

    IV. SIP contribution stood at an all-time high of ₹ 21,262.22 crores in June 2024 as against ₹ 20,904.37 crores in May 2024.

    ­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­”The mutual fund industry continued to benefit from sustained flows into equity-oriented mutual funds, hybrid funds and passive funds. Equity fund inflows stood at a record high of ₹40,608 crore, while SIP inflows touched a new high of ₹21,262 crore. This expansion reflects the industry’s unwavering commitment to investor education, strong distribution, and digital innovation,” says Venkat Chalasani, Chief Executive, AMFI.

    “For the second month in a row, the Net AUM of midcap and sectoral funds has surpassed that of large size mutual funds due to the notable decline in market share and poor inflows into large-cap space and gaining traction on thematic and midcap space,” says Viraj Gandhi, CEO of Samco Mutual Fund.
