    HFR lance un indice de volatilité longue

    Alors que la volatilité des tarifs internationaux et l’incertitude économique augmentent, HFR – Hedge Fund Research – lance un indice de volatilité, le HFR Long Volatility Index.

    Au moment où la volatilité des marchés financiers explose, des stratégies innovantes basées sur les options peuvent offrir une « protection défensive » du portefeuille et des « gains asymétriques ».

    HFR, leader mondial de l’analyse et du suivi des stratégies et performances des fonds spéculatifs, organisera pour les investisseurs, le 13 mai prochain à… Boston, un événement axé sur la volatilité longue. Fondé en 1992, HFR calcule plus de 500 indices couvrant tous les segments du marché des hedge funds, du plus large au plus spécifique, par sous-stratégie ou région.

    Des pics et des gains

    Le HFR Long Volatility Index est le seul indice de référence « pur » pour l’industrie des hedge funds dédié aux stratégies élaborées pour générer des gains lors de pics de volatilité des marchés financiers.

    « Grâce à ce nouveau lancement, en nous appuyant sur notre héritage de leadership et d’innovation dans l’indexation et l’analyse du secteur des hedge funds à l’échelle mondiale, explique un porte-parole de HFR, nous proposons des perspectives approfondies sur la performance des stratégies utilisées par les gestionnaires et accessibles aux investisseurs. »

    Les stratégies de volatilité longue font appel à un éventail « sophistiqué » d’options de trading de portefeuille, conçues pour produire des performances asymétriques « puissantes » en période de forte volatilité, de stress sur les marchés financiers ou de dislocation des actifs sous-jacents.

    Se positionnant en vue de scénarii de marché impliquant des mouvements d’actifs en dehors des normes historiques, elles peuvent inclure des options à court terme (stratégies Gamma), des stratégies de volatilité à long terme (avec des échéances allant d’un an à plusieurs années) et des stratégies de risque extrême (tail risk), très performantes lorsque surviennent des événements « inattendus », « rares » ou « peu probables ».
